Paranormal Activity Alternate Ending
Spoilers! If you have not seen Paranormal Activity, do not read this blog. Do not click the IMDb Alternate Versions link.
So, after seeing Paranormal Activity a while ago, I was curious on more information about the film almost immediately that night. Browsing IMDb revealed that Steven Spielberg was the one who suggested the ending in the Theaterical release. Intriguing, right?
After Googling around, I couldn't find any info about the original ending. I wasted some time today on IMDb recovering from a long, but great, Halloween weekend. I noticed the alternate versions link was available.

I thought the original ending would not have worked with the evidence presented throughout the film. To think that the demon would have actually left her seemed a bit far fetched. It would have been plausible if the entity did not have such a long history of an obsessed attachment to the girl. Though, who is to say it wasn't an immature and young demon fixated on a pretty girl?
The Theatrical ending was, of course, far more simpler and took less far less time to achieve what I think worked with less. Him being thrown at the camera was in a trailer that I saw, so I was actually expecting it, sadly. Which definitely killed the shock of seeing his body. I feel they could have done more without having to resort to a scary CGI demonic face and a "it's going to get you!" lunge at the camera.
There is also a bootlegged 2007 copy of the "Director's Cut" floating around on the internet, but just remember, that is an completely unfinished rough draft of the film. Of course it isn't going to be as good as the theatrical release.
What do you think? If you saw the movie, which you better have if you are this far, what do you think about the original ending?
And did anyone else think she was going to bite him when she went down to smell his body?
